Beware of third-party scams purporting to offer Cornell post-doctoral placements or certificate programs
Cornell University recently has been made aware of fraudulent activity targeting overseas students and researchers, including at least one third party website falsely stating that it is offering a postdoctoral or visiting scholar program in association with Cornell. These scams, which may seek to obtain money and/or personal details from interested applicants, are fraudulent.
Cornell wishes to warn the public about these fraudulent activities being perpetrated purportedly in the name of Cornell, and/or its officials. Please be advised that:
- Cornell does not, nor has it, worked in collaboration with third-party companies or organizations to offer postdoctoral or research certificate programs.
- Third parties do not collect tuition or fees on behalf of Cornell.
- Cornell does not work with or endorse such organizations including, but not limited to, Shanghai Lufei Education Technology Co., Ltd. (Chinese name: 上海璐斐教育科技有限公司) and Shenzhen Guoyan Era Education Technology Co., Ltd. (Chinese name: 深圳市国研时代教育科技有限公司).
Cornell’s postdoctoral positions are listed on Cornell’s Academic Career Opportunities website and Cornell postdoctoral fellowship programs are listed on the Office of Postdoctoral Studies website. If you suspect a third party of falsely advertising a Cornell program, please notify globaloperations@cornell.edu. Victims of such scams may also report them to their local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.

Asian Studies
The Department of Asian Studies in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences is the home for instruction in the languages, literature, religions, cultures, and intellectual histories of Asian societies. Chinese Language Study
Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences offers numerous options: courses in Mandarin (beginning, intermediate, high intermediate, advanced, high advanced) with specific course content for all students, students of Chinese heritage, and professional students. Some courses are offered in Beijing for students in the China and Asia-Pacific Studies program.
Clarke Program in East Asian Law and Culture
This Cornell Law School program hosts conferences and colloquia, scholar and student exchanges, and forums that bring together prominent legal scholars from East Asian countries and the United States.
Clinical Opportunities for Medical Students
The Global Health curriculum at Weill Cornell Medicine offers international electives in China for medical students, as well as clinical rotations in New York City for visiting Chinese medical students.
Cornell-China Undergraduate Summer Program
A part of the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, this partnership with a number of Chinese universities offers Chinese undergraduates the opportunity to enroll in Cornell summer classes, study with leading faculty, and participate fully in life on campus.
Cornell Contemporary China Initiative
In the East Asia Program in Cornell’s Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, the initiative brings together scholars, students, and experts for interdisciplinary conversations, data sharing, networking, and publications on issues important in China today.
East Asia Program
A part of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, the program is a focal point for research and teaching on East Asia and the hub of a Cornell network of experts devoted to studies of contemporary and historical East Asia.

Expanding Horizons
This program offered by the College of Veterinary Medicine encourages Cornell veterinary students to plan and participate in international veterinary medical summer externships, including in China.

Semester Study in China
Cornell offers 17 semester-based and year-long study programs in China and around the world for Cornell students, in partnership with Cornell colleges and other U.S. universities and organizations.
Student Multidisciplinary Applied Research Team Program
Teams of Cornell students and faculty from diverse disciplines collaborate on specific assignments to address needs identified by international enterprises and organizations. Students contribute technical assistance and analytical support, travel in January, present their research, and develop publishable case studies and other educational materials. In 2019-2020, three projects are in China. Information sessions and applications happen in September.
