Cornell Beijing Alumni Annual Dinner Celebrates Community and Achievement

The Cornell Club of Beijing, in partnership with the Cornell China Center (CCC), hosted its annual dinner on December 14, bringing together 150 alumni and their families for an evening celebrating the strength and vitality of Cornell's presence in China. The event fostered meaningful connections across generations, highlighting the university's enduring impact in the region.

The evening opened with a video address from Erin Kelly, director of International Alumni Relations, who extended greetings from Ithaca. Cornell Club of Beijing Co-Presidents Tommy Wu and Andrew Wang shared the club's recent accomplishments and outlined strategic plans for the coming year. Peter Wen, CCC manager, offered insights into the center's growing influence, while Eric Yeung, academic director of the Tsinghua-Johnson FMBA Dual Degree Program, updated attendees on the program's success. Current FMBA student Shiyu Zhou '26 offered perspective on the student experience.

The evening also featured cultural performances by alumni's children, showcasing the Cornell community's Intergenerational engagement.

Professor Yuxian Cao of Peking University delivered the keynote address, "Bridging Cultures and Leading Trends: Cornell Alumni and Modern China," emphasizing the critical role Cornell graduates play in China's development. His presentation underscored the importance of cross-cultural exchange and the lasting contributions of Cornell alumni in China.

This annual dinner highlighted the depth of the Cornell network in Beijing and reinforced the university's founding principle, "Any Person, Any Study," in a global context. The event's focus on professional growth, cultural exchange, and lasting relationships reaffirmed the community's dedication to advancing shared goals.

The success of this year's gathering sets a strong foundation for future initiatives, reflecting the dedication and vibrancy of Cornell alumni in Beijing. Looking ahead, the Cornell Club of Beijing and the CCC remain committed to fostering connections that inspire collaboration and mutual growth.
